What is Parent Forum?
Are you a parent or caregiver of a Polaris student? Welcome! You are already in Parent Forum. Parents who are involved in their child’s school from Kindergarten through High School have kids who are more successful in school. Join your Parent Forum meetings and donate your unique set of skills and interests to make our community great!
The Parent Forum is our parent group. We meet monthly (First Tuesday of the month usually) to discuss ways to make Polaris a better place for our children. There are three decision making bodies at Polaris: staff, students and parents. The Parent Forum is one arm of the decision making process.
2017/2018 Event Breakdown and Volunteer Needs
Fall Carnival October 27, 2017
Polaris has spoken! The traditional Fall Carnival is on. Come play games, trick-or-treat, and enjoy the haunted maze. Typically, we offer a dinner option for families. In order for this to be successful, we will need several coordinators to work as a team.
Craft Bazaar December 9, 2017
This will be our first craft bazaar. We will open up the school to families and vendors, offer shopping, gift wrapping, door prizes, etc. With this being our first event of this type, we will need lots of help coordinating everything.
Candy Cane Potluck December 13, 2017
This event is actually put on by Heidi and Allie's Advisories. Parent Forum helps by advertising the potluck portion of the night, set up tables, and put out the food that families bring in. We also provide clean up after the evening is over.
Book Fair Conference Weeks
Pennies for Patients Skate Night February 22, 2018
Each year our school becomes involved in a nonprofit called Pennies for Patients, where we collect change to help kids with cancer. Primarily put on by Nurse Patty, we assist her in putting together a skate night at the Dimond Skateland. We will need help advertising this event to our families.
Barnes and Noble Book Fair March 2, 2018
This is a one day event held at Barnes and Noble. Typically, we have several tables set up with crafts and face painting, etc. This event can be done with two coordinators. We supply information to families about the event, put together wish lists from teachers, coordinate volunteers for the day of the event to run tables.
Spring Carnival April 28, 2018
Like many events, this will be a first time event for the school. We will have booths with games, food, and fun. This is will be a big event for the school, and we will need several coordinators to make it successful.
If you are interested in participating in any of the events as either a volunteer, coordinator, or just have experience that you would like to share, please email us at email@example.com or contact Dannielle Mellor.
